We received several estimates on installing three separate Mitsubishi Split systems in our 1895 three story house with radiator heat. One in the dining room on the first floor and two on the second floor, in the bedroom and the family room. Mr. Toran was very prompt and detailed in the initial two visits explaining the systems, the way in which the work would be done and by whom, his supervision and the followup post installation. His estimate was reasonable and we liked the fact that he was readily available by phone for any installation questions.
The process of installation while complicated given the age of the house went very smoothly. the crew was careful, clean, and very polite. Again, they responded to any concerns or questions and finished the work in a day and a half. We liked their willingness to do the units on the second floor completely on the first day?so we could sleep and relax. The protected our furniture and were careful with art and other valuable objects. They also understood that we had three cats that we needed to keep on the top floor and out of the way and called both mornings to give us sufficient time to do this. The work involves both inside and external operations and we were impressed with how efficiently they did this and also explicated what was going on. The unit on the first floor was installed on the second day and was more difficult because of the way in which the house is built. Nonetheless they finished in half a day.
The clean up and replacement of furniture and the protection for items that could not be moved was excellent. Mr. Toran carefully went over all the operations of the controls several times to two senior citizens and came back the next day to make some adjustments to the dining room unit. We are very happy with the units and the cooling they provide during this hot summer. They are quiet and cool quickly so we can shut off the units in two of the rooms when we go to sleep and put them on in the morning when we get up and in less than 5 minutes we are comfortable. The outside compressor is very quiet. We do not hear it and that is wonderful considering that our neighbors compressors are very noisy.

Excellent family-owned company. Art, the owner, was immediately responsive. Made an appointment and came right over to assess our needs and give a fair estimate. Five days later they installed the A/C system –a new technology called Mitsubishi Split–perfect for our old house with radiators. They installed 2 on-the-wall units, one downstairs and one in the master bedroom on 2nd floor.
We chose Mitsubishi Split because we could choose the rooms we wanted to A/C and add on later. All units are SILENT, even when running (including outside condenser). Highest Energy Star ratings,. We had heard of this unit from friend with a historic house and same radiator problems, and decided to pay the higher price. We’re glad we did–the service from Toran couldn’t have been better. Professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. And immediately accessible by cell phone should you have questions later.
The beauty of the air conditioning was that we don’t use the whole house air conditioning. AND it delivers silent, even coolness, controlled by a Remote mounted on the wall. You can program the Remote so it changes settings for different times of the day (e.g., when you’re away, at night). AND there is a heat pump so on chilly autumn days you can heat one room without turning on your furnace! We’re glad we went with Toran and with the Mitsubishi Split A/C. We’ve used it over 2 months now, and love it. I wish we’d replaced our window A/C units a few years ago.

As to the choice of what we installed, I wish we had done it earlier. We were able to keep the entire house 3 stories, stone construction reasonably cool all summer without having to have ducts installed. We reached target temperature in the rooms that they were located in and passively cooled the other areas sufficiently. Now, it’s cold out and we’re using the gas furnace as a back-up to maintain a minimum temperature and then “spot heating” the areas where we are most of the time with warmer temperatures with the splits that adjust easily and with a quick response.

Toran was one of four companies to submit a quote for replacing my old oil boiler and removing the old space hog of a oil tank, Art took the time to come out (at the agreed time) to assess my heating needs during this summers brutal heat wave – could have blown me off but didn’t, quickly and efficiently performed the necessary calculations to size up and recommend several natural gas boiler models that would meet our needs, after researching the pros and cons of each ( standard efficiency vs high efficiency) we decided on a Weil Maclain Gold series model. During Art’s visit he recommended I have the chimney liner inspected to see what kind of shape it was in since oil and gas produce different types of exhaust byproducts which may not coexist well in an old or deteriorated chimney flue, well that was the right advise at the right time when the chimney guy removed the old stainless steel liner it was corroded badly with several holes throughout, So my advise to anyone converting from oil to gas do yourself and your family a favor have a pro inspect it thoroughly. Contacted Art after the new liner was installed to setup the furnace install date, we agreed on a date maybe a week later, his crew arrived on the first day on time and quietly and efficiently went about their business and the same went for the second day, when finished they made sure the basement was as they found it.

We have used this company twice now. In the middle of the sweltering summer, our AC went. Art came out, diagnosed the problem and we were up and running in no time at a minimal cost. I originally had Arthur Toran out for an estimate a year prior to his doing the work. I chose at that time to risk my old boiler for one more heating season, but last fall I decided to bite the bullet. When I called, he looked up the old estimate and came out to look at and measure my place again in order to determine the proper type and capacity for the replacement. His evaluation and estimate were essentially unchanged from the previous year, the exception being a slight increase in the cost of the unit itself.
I got one other estimate at about the same time. It was appreciably higher and included some additional equipment (that Arthur later explained was unnecessary). In the previous year, I had called two other heating people, one of whom recommended a less efficient boiler at a slightly higher price, and another who came out but never got back to me. Neither of these two bothered to take measurements.
I chose to go with Arthur because his price was not unreasonable and because his manner was professional.The unit was installed over two days last fall. The workmen showed up on time, did not require my supervision at all (they locked up on both days since I had to leave), and left no trace, in terms or dirt or debris, of their having been there.

I had a Mitsubishi quad zone ductless mini-split heat pump system installed. Mr. Toran replied to my request for an estimate the same day. He came out that same evening to take measurements and see what was needed for the job. I received a quote via email within a couple of days. The price was great and Mr. Toran didn’t try to sell me into another system like some of the other vendors. The install went without a hitch. Mr. Toran and his team arrived early on a Wednesday morning and went right to work. Everyone was very professional and did a great job. All the units were in place that afternoon. I explained that I currently owned the property but may rent it in a few years. Toran explained which option suited my best interests in terms of energy efficiency vs. overall cost. This was extremely helpful. They did not pressure me to take the more expensive product. They just gave me the facts and I ended up taking the less expensive unit because that is what suited me best. It was installed on the day and time I was told. The workers were very friendly and left the place clean. To date, the system has worked great. Many reviews say that it is not the product that fails but it is the installer. I can not agree more. Toran did a great job and i don’t expect any problems.

Art Toran provided a quick response (within minutes) to our initial phone call re: appointment for estimate. He made scheduling easy and convenient for an estimate of the job site. We had two other estimates and his came in as the most reasonable. His was the most thorough explanation of what he could do for us. We had the old gas furnace and central AC units removed. They were both replaced with new units. Once we agreed to the estimate, Art scheduled our installation promptly and completed the installation over a two-day period. Everything was completed on time and was done as explained in the estimate. The job was completed in one of the hottest weeks of the summer, without delay. Art’s workers were extremely courteous and professional. We would highly recommend his company to other members of Angie’s list! We were very pleased with the job. The air conditioning is working well. We are looking forward to warmer winter at a lower cost!

Art and his crew were prompt and courteous. They worked very hard; removing my old oil furnace, oil tank and installing a chimney liner, gas boiler unit and hot water tank in 2 days. His original estimate was within my budget and the final cost was NOT MORE than the original proposal. He even came out the following Sunday to sign a Pa. rebate application form which I had just downloaded from my computer. You need not ask me if I would use Toran Heating again. Art and his crew are honest. That alone is refreshing in the world of contractors.

Great service! They installed a new furnace, humidifier and central air conditioner. Luckily they managed to squeeze me in during this very hot summer heat wave. Everyone was friendly and courteous and took care to leave things neat and clean each day when they finished. I had an explanation of what would happen before the job started and then Art took the time to show me some basic maintenance tips. It was a very good experience and now I am enjoying keeping cool!
